Paula's footprints in the Sands

I would like to intro you to A REAL Lady of courage & conviction, Paula of

To those of you who are not aware, Paula from Penang was arrested last week (bail was posted - so she was arrested) for initiating a vigil without a permit.

And don't go down the road that she knew of the dangers & put herself there for some insane self glorification purpose.

Like all of us, Paula have many well meaning friends who loves her & told her NOT to do anything & just be the silent majority.

Hey! Paula's Friends - Don't Judge her & Don't Moralise. Be Her Rock. Be Her Strength. I am sure you are absolutely gobsmacked by her Convictions, Quiet Strength & Resilience - as are we

& Hello Silent Majority!
Please don't think the only safe way is to stay silent, turn the other cheek & let some other donkeys do the dirty work but you reap the rewards.

Is nearly 30 years of Racism not enough for you?

Be a Decent Fellow Being & do not continue to ignore the Sufferings & Unfairness of your Fellow Men, on the Disenfranchaised - wrought on them by the Corrupt Few

Look to History & I remind you of this poem "First they Came" attributed to Martin Niemoller

When the Nazis came for the communists,I remained silent;I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,I remained silent;I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,I did not speak out;I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,I remained silent;I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,there was no one left to speak out.

I do not know (of) Paula before this but I know this.

Paula is - in every way - who I (should & would like) to emulate but will find her a Tough Act to follow.

She truly seems like Grace & Courage under Fire. She has a little boy & I am positive, she has left her footprints in the sands of life & time - unlike many of us. Yes. Me included.

I am angry at my own cowardice, complacency & Impotency & for not being where it's counted most.

And don't think ANYONE would do this type of activisim for the "glory" of themselves. NOBODY does this for publicity or cheap glory. Yeah..some do. Most don't. Paula didn't.

Paula Dear. You have given your son the most valuable lesson in Life that any parent can hope to impart.
And that is
Son. If you can stand up for what you believe in, then you will be able to stand up as a Man in Life.

welcome kamal!
I bid you welcome to write to your heart's content.I wish you well always..and I have no grudges against anyone..life's too short.

It is much better to put our anger, frustrations & discontent to keyboard & cybershpace..lest we carry our baggages around.

It is good to let it out. I don't mind at all. Sticks & stones.

peace & salaam my brother fellow Malaysian!

The 1st truth is that most of us are silent majority, dare not stick our head out, kia-si just like me.
The 2nd is that most people does not agree to ISA except those in power.
We just hope Kamal will understand that this is not about race or religion but more on the right to defend oneself upon being accused. Aliran published the list of known ISA detainees, which includes malay, chinese indian, etc. My question to Kamal is does he not care about them? some are muslim too!!!
No to ISA.
God bless Paula.

Hello Gobloking

I am really touched to the core of my being, even to my bone marrow that you wrote such a beautiful candid post on me. Thanks a lot, Gobloking but I don't deserve the glory...because there are many out there too who deserve the glory.

This experience made me take a harder look at the ISA detainees, the psychological and physical ordeal they must be going through...how they are robbed of the years with their family. I only hope that more people will come out of their shell and play an active role to build a better Malaysia.

We seem to share the same taste in poetry ...your last few lines remind me of "If" by Rudyard Kipling. May the words of his poem challenge us to grow up to be the persons whom we are meant to be :).

God bless you Gobloking. I am touched by your sincerity and passion. Am glad to know you and hope we can be friends.

Take care and enjoy "If"...

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream--and not make dreams your master,
If you can think--and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two impostors just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings
And risk it all on one turn of pitch-and-toss,
And lose, and start again at your beginnings
And never breath a word about your loss;
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve your turn long after they are gone,
And so hold on when there is nothing in you
Except the Will which says to them: "Hold on!"

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,
Or walk with kings--nor lose the common touch,
If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you;
If all men count with you, but none too much,
If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds' worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Penny, thanks for pepping Paula up. Till December then. You got either a worm, maggot, fungus or a virus here already......all the way to Madagascar. Dang, they do infest cyberspace too.

YEAH MIKELING - LET THEM HEAR US!! NO ISA!!
NO RACISM !!
NO IDIOTS IN POWER!!

And now...
Paula My Dear
We ARE friends! I would be truly honored if we should meet up one day. You are my sister in Truth & Justice!

And I didn't give you false glory.
My "strength" (?) is in calling a spade a spade.

I am patient & nice* only when I encounter goblokheads (plse see 1st posting in the comments here) - through whose heads even rockets cannot penetrate.

*Nice because poor things! Can't blame ppl who were dropped on the head as babies or whom God did not see fit to put a brain in, right?

(I hope I put a smile on your face?)

I am afraid I am the exact opposite of you. I am the proverbial paper tiger.

My threshold for discomfort's pretty low down there. Talk talk ok. Walk the Talk? Not good but I hope if & when the time comes, I can Paula them as well as you.

YOU REST NOW PAULA. I have so commanded. And yes. I am BOSSY!

Zorro - I am gonna love that camel basher to death. You have already seen how stacked I am (play along with me lah) Thus, I will use my ample bosom to smoother him with love!

She have the strength hidden beneath her. When it was time to reveal, there we see her real capabilities.

Is your hidden strength out of your normal strength ? :)

GobloKing said...

Jarod. I wish I have more hidden boobs than hidden strength. I am unworthy even to be Paula's little finger.

Once you know me, you will know I am "She of the talk big, talk empty school". That one I learn-ted from my leaders!

Hi Gobloking,

This was a really good post on Paula. And you are right, she is deserving of it. Doing what she did was not easy - I know, cos I talked with her almost every day, and knew what she was going through. Even to the foreboding she had on the eve.

And yet she went through with it. And that is courage. And that, I will tabik, every time.

Me? I guess I am one step below you: no talk, no action. I have a cruder and ruder version, coined by an English-teacher friend, but I'll save that for another time, lest you think even less of me.

But I was happy to read this about my dear friend, so I stopped to say 'hi'.

Cheers,

Pat

Hi Pat! Thanks for dropping by in support of Paula. She is worthy of continuous support. Good to know you are 1 of the friends lending her a shoulder!

& Dontcha worry abt rude words here.

I never think less of ppl spewing what they feel on cyberspace..safer than keris waving in real life

& where's the fun in life if one permanently sticky tapes the mouth, heart & mind?

p/s there are few choice words I haven't heard, seen or said in this here life.

SistaHH!!!

This is for you!!!

Whenever I feel blue,
I just have to think of you.

Your smile that shines
Makes my troubles seem sublime

The energy that you exude
Tells us all you're a cool dude.

The words you spew in your blog
Every goblok's head you'll knock!

Through cyberspace you spread joy and laughter
While telling us, it's our nation we must look after.

Gobloking is the name you must remember
My friendship with her none can put asunder.

Love you sistahhh and hope you like the poem.

Hugs
